Mirrors: George Ferris

"I love mirrors. They let one pass through the surface of things." -Claude Chabrol
My image was influenced by mirrors and band posters.  I looked at the theme as the name of a faux-band ('The Mirror').  The Mirror is a one-man post-punk band that was created by Christopher Montenegro in Salem, OR in 2009.  The Mirror is signed by HJK Records for a 3-record deal and starts its first national tour in May.  This image was purchased by HJK Records for distribution and circulation of the tour.

Concert posters ('music posters') have been around for centuries with the first handbills being hand-drawn for local acts.  With the invention of lithography in the early 1800s, concert advertisement (posters) went from a local market and expanded into a regional and even national scene.  Poster advertisement began to fade as radio and movies took over the first part of the 20th century; the more popular streams of advertisement won out.  It wasn't until the rise of Rock and Roll and the counter-culture that came along that music and concert posters gained their comeback and strong influence that is still prevalent in today's society.

Here's a great article about the brief history of concert and event posters.  50 amazing and inspirational gig posters.
While you're at it, here's a band named Mirror Mirror I discovered while researching my faux-band.

Just like the blank pages of a stories we all have a beginning and an end. We have lived in the past, exist in the present and are living for the future. The keys we press are like life's stepping stone. And the words we create form the stories in which we live. Life is what we make it but every now and then, we all could use Inspiration to keep moving forward. You can see this photo and more at beauxsphotography.com

Old school - Past meets present

In order for us to have a brighter future we need to know our past. When we look at a old clock we don't look deep into the meaning. We just see it as a old clock that just stopped working. But what was happening when that time stopped? What event took place to where that clock stopped working? That gives us an incentive to do our research and try to learn about why the clock just stopped working.  This picture was taken at the gate rubber company.

The place was shut down due to countless accidents on the clock from what a former employer told me. He had descriptions of so many lacerations and medical reports that were filed during the time of business. It got so bad to where they had a hospital right across the street from the actual plant. Like i said before with a picture comes a story and with a story comes a picture. You just have to piece the two together to make  the reader see what you see.

There is nothing like a good old-fashioned covered bridge.  It's quaint and comfortable and rare in the U.S.   Classic!

When I think of old school, I think of Pin-up. With it being spring and everyone getting outside and planting flowers, I have a Pin-up girl with a wagon full of flowers.

Everyone loves a classic burger and fry along with a milk shake to share with the one they love! Nothing is more old skool than the jitter bug on a Saturday night at your local diner!
