Macro: Anna Keiser

The term of architecture can be applied to many things. The entire building is just as important as the nuts and bolts that keep it together. Macro photography shots usually highlight the details of a subject. I have an obsession with how nature's structure plays off of the man made structures that have taken over. The overgrowth of this small weed flower on the stop sign is intricate and playful, weaving in, out and around. This literal macro shot of the weed flower presents the overgrowth as something beautiful even though the relationship is not symbiotic.

Beauty: Andrea Frase

Beauty can be a hard thing to notice if you're not looking for it. There is beauty all around you, but maybe this summer you want to have that beauty right in your own back yard. Here are a few great places to go for roses, lilacs, and maybe even some pansies to give a little more color. I hope everyone takes the time out of their day to stop and smell the roses, just be careful not to smell the bees.

Beauty: Moriah Gallagher

Growing up in a family that has had a lot of influence from the fashion industry (designers and models), beauty has always been taught to me as very important for a woman.  As I grew older, I was unable to attain this perfect external image that I had always known to be so important, which led to many issues with my self esteem.

I have since realized that while external beauty is nice to look at, allowing yourself to be consumed by it leads a dangerous road.  This is why it is represented by the poppy, a beautiful flower that is a key ingredient in destructive substances such as heroin.  

Spring - Casey Bieker

Spring in Colorado always seems like a tease in that you get a taste of it then it's gone again. The "newness" of spring with all the greenery and flowers is caged up and held back repeatedly in the last battle with Winter before we get to see it full force.

Color by Josie Lam

This week's concept was color and I wanted to go with a Chinese/Feng Shui type of theme only using white, gold and blue as the main colors.

I also took three different shots with different angles and perspectives 

(as in, the way you would look at it if you were in front of it, getting closer to see it clearer)

I was also messing around with Gimp and used a few filters (I'm trying to get more accustomed to it.)

when I was in the process of checking if my shots were in focus and whatnot.  

(Note: I don't own CS4/CS5 at the moment, which is why I have Gimp, 

I'd probably have Photoshop if I weren't a poor college student :( )
