Shadow: Anna Keiser

What is a silhouette but a shadow that is coming forth? Both shadows and silhouettes alike are intangible. You can only touch the surface of them. While these shadows are standing and facing you, it's not the shadows that are the subject, rather, it's the light creating them.

Vision: Thomas Palos

As I run the last lap I can feel the sweat running down my face, my heart beating rapidly I lay down in the grass to take a rest. My vision is always blocked out on what is going on around me after a long run. I recover myself by sitting up and looking straight out into the distance as I wipe the salty sweat from my eyes. My vision becomes a bit more clear, but when I come to face it, there is always something blocking my vision.

Have you ever heard that color can affect your mood?  Studies suggest that red signifies passion, blue is calming, and yellow puts you in a happy mood.
Think of what the world would be like if we didn't have color; if everything we saw was in black and white.  Would everyone be walking around with a sad face?  Or would everyone be the same because they were none the wiser?  What would it be like to be colorblind?  These are the questions I wonder.
For this shoot, I immediately thought of flowers at the Denver Botanic Garden.  I was caught off guard when a bee did a drive-by my face.  Or maybe it was a fly-by.  I had to see what the fuss was about and saw this gorgeous giant-sized dandelion.
Dandelions were my grandmother's favorite flower, so when I saw this, I had to take a picture of it.  Partnered with my affection for bees, but only the kind with the fur that kind of makes me want to pet them, it was perfect.  It's just too bad that bees and I don't have mutual feelings for each other.

Sometimes the most beautiful things in the world are too small to see with the naked eye. We might not be able to see them, but that doesn't mean they didn't happen, like a splash or a gun shot. How much time do you take out of your day to stop and look around? Try looking at your surrounding is slow motion and you just might be suprised at the beauty you may have missed before.

Mirrors: Brandon Sanchez

Erica Jong once wrote " It is the city of mirrors, the city of mirages, at once solid and liquid, at once air and stone.



Mirrors can used as a surface to reflect ones image or even light from somewhere in a room. Creating a different or altered reality in a world that may be plain, vanity may sometimes come from even the smallest of creatures.

Urban: Jazzmin Windey

I feel that traffic, rules, lights, loud sounds all make up my definition of an urban area.  While I don't mind large cities I could never settle down in one.  I am a very rushed person as it is and don't think I could handle the fast pace of an urban area.  The crazy thing is that during my commute from work and school back home I go through so many different areas.  There are changes in altitude, scenery, even weather but through it all I know that as soon as I get past the lights pictured above I will be back in the quiet setting of my little slice of heaven.

Cold: Jazzmin Windey

So this past week I went on my honeymoon to none other than Las Vegas.  While in the city of what seems like a billion people, I realized the city is actually very cold and lonely.  There are so many things to do and fun to be had but this is one city that is extremely unforgiving (and steals all of your money haha).  There are so many sad faces all over the city, people young and old who lost their way, and hopefully someday soon they will find it again.

Fusion : Audree Valdez

Definitely not the best work of art, but I at least had a little bit of fun creating "fusion".

Fusion: The union or blending together of things, as, melted together. I dont think I could have been more literal when I decided to take four crayons and "fuse" them together in the microwave. At least something cool came out of it.

When I look at this image it reminds me of what the world would look like from space, only a little bit more colorful.

Energy - Junior Robles

Are you tired? Are random thoughts keeping you up all night? More importantly, have you ever wondered why people drink Red Bull? I'm sure you have. Red Bull energy drinks give bursts of energy for those who are in desperate need of some serious energy during those sleepless nights, high levels of exertion, or just plain stress. Red Bull's, "drug of choice", (to get you hooked or amino-acid) is essentially Taurine, but others may think otherwise. You see, certain levels of Taurine exist in our bodies, when our bodies run out of energy, our body's ability to create Taurine decreases and drinking Red Bull will help solve that problem... Whatever the case, the truth is Red Bull energy drinks will have your five human senses feeling alert.

MOTION - DREW LUNDQUIST

This shot I've tried to do a couple times now, trying to capture movement/motion yet still haven't managed to get it to where I want. A light painting shot using a blue tinted fluorescent light moved around with a 30sec exposure time. This time with ISO maxed at 1600 at f/5.6

TECHNOLOGY: Raydene Salinas

Technology. We are surrounded by it in our lives everyday. In the last 10 years we have moved more and more into a technological age. Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by the knowledge we need to have of a vast number of technological devices. This shot portrays this as the cords that are wrapped around the model's body. I'm sure within the next few years there will be less use for cords, but we will still feel bound by our need for technology. Try as we may, there is no escape. Technology.

Color by Josie Lam

This week's concept was color and I wanted to go with a Chinese/Feng Shui type of theme only using white, gold and blue as the main colors.

I also took three different shots with different angles and perspectives 

(as in, the way you would look at it if you were in front of it, getting closer to see it clearer)

I was also messing around with Gimp and used a few filters (I'm trying to get more accustomed to it.)

when I was in the process of checking if my shots were in focus and whatnot.  

(Note: I don't own CS4/CS5 at the moment, which is why I have Gimp, 

I'd probably have Photoshop if I weren't a poor college student :( )
