Beauty: Brandon Sanchez

Beauty can be interpreted into many things; from a wonderful rose to a stunning portrait of a person or group of persons who could inspire you to create an image of beauty. I read a quote by John Keats that truly inspired me to imagine an era where people believed in that which was beautiful to look at and worship "A thing of beauty is a joy forever: its loveliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness."

Greek Mythology came to mind, and the goddess Aphrodite was the one Greek goddess that truly illustrated that one quality; beauty. There is one copy of the Greek statue Venus de Milo and it is located in the Louvre today.

Mirrors: Moriah Gallagher

Mirrors are considered portals to separate realities.  Whether these be the Spirit World, other dimensions, or simply a portal of a new understanding of this dimension, mirrors hold a great deal of importance to many people to show them something they would otherwise not be able to see.  In this picture, when the viewer looks down into the mirror, they are shown a new vantage point of a classic French chandelier.  From this viewpoint, one can really see that the object is a chandelier, but they may also see it as imitation of different objects such as branches or spiders.  Not only does this mirror create a portal to this other "world", but it also distorts reality by showing the three dimensional object as a new flat object.

Color by Josie Lam

This week's concept was color and I wanted to go with a Chinese/Feng Shui type of theme only using white, gold and blue as the main colors.

I also took three different shots with different angles and perspectives
(as in, the way you would look at it if you were in front of it, getting closer to see it clearer)

I was also messing around with Gimp and used a few filters (I'm trying to get more accustomed to it.)
when I was in the process of checking if my shots were in focus and whatnot.
(Note: I don't own CS4/CS5 at the moment, which is why I have Gimp,
I'd probably have Photoshop if I weren't a poor college student :( )

I hope you enjoyed! :]
