Color

I love all the colors of a rainbow. I wanted to show what is given to us on this earth. A rainbow is a beautiful thing.

Color is very closely associated with our emotions; so it is very closely tied to our appetites. Both of these associations make color extremely powerful in advertising. Why are we more compelled to crave drinks that have been brightly colored with chemical dyes? It is unnatural and redundant, yet these are what sell best worldwide. Some studies have shown that color can carry as much influence as taste when we perceive flavor. Delicious.

If I were a color I would want to be yellow.

Colors are more than a combination of red and blue or yellow and black. They are non-verbal communication. Colors have symbolism and color meaning that go beyond ink. Green is the color of nature and life. Green grass is the most restful color. Green symbolizes self-respect and well being. Green is the color of balance. It also represents learning, growth and harmony. She brings the "Green" to my life.

Hanky code (also known as flagging) is a way of indicating, usually among gay male casual sex-seekers or BDSM practitioners in the leather subculture, whether they are a top or bottom, and what kind of sex they are seeking, by wearing color-coded handkerchiefs, usually in the back pocket. Hanky code was widely used in the 1970s as a gay code. However today they are also used by many bisexual and pansexual into kink.

Hankies are worn almost exclusively in the rear trouser pocket. The left side of the body for tops and on the right for bottoms. In the past bandanas might be worn tied around the neck (with a knot positioned on either the left or right side) or on the wrist or bicep.

Here my friend Jackson uses his hanky to remain legally covered for Denver's Pride Parade while indicating his interest in fisting. He would normally flag on the right.

This week's concept was color and I wanted to go with a Chinese/Feng Shui type of theme only using white, gold and blue as the main colors.

I also took three different shots with different angles and perspectives 

(as in, the way you would look at it if you were in front of it, getting closer to see it clearer)

I was also messing around with Gimp and used a few filters (I'm trying to get more accustomed to it.)

when I was in the process of checking if my shots were in focus and whatnot.  

(Note: I don't own CS4/CS5 at the moment, which is why I have Gimp, 

I'd probably have Photoshop if I weren't a poor college student :( )

Color? How about Color Blindness!

What is color? Most people don’t think twice about the colors they are seeing when they look at a rainbow or a bouquet of flowers. Wikipedia defines it as "the visual perceptual property corresponding in humans to the categories called red, green, blue and others." I define color as one of my personal hells. I love to look at the things of color, but in the last 10 months I have had to re-evaluate what I see. Color is not equal for all people, for those of us who are color blind and love the art of photography or any art form that involves color, it is definitely not equal. When you look at something and you are not sure what color you are looking at, it can be really frustrating. I found out I was colorblind 25 years ago and it explained a lot of things growing up. Last November I had my color blindness retested and I found out it has gotten worse. Taking color photographs is great and I love to do it. PRINTING color photographs can be somewhat challenging. Why? Color cast! So what is color? What you see is probably not what I see. But the real question is who see's the more beautiful color image? Do you appreciates your color vision or take it for granted?
