Heather Zindars: Beauty

The perfection and beauty of this insect is indescribable.  This photo was captured at The Butterfly Pavilion, in Westminster, Colorado where civilians can enter a magical world of butterflies flying freely around them.  I love the juxtaposition of the beautiful butterfly placed perfectly at the dying part of the leaf.  As he eats the leaf, his proboscis is perfectly curled, and the tip of his antennae appears to glow in delight.  These type of photographs are difficult to capture since you can't control the placement and movement of the butterfly.  I was lucky to capture this moment.

Heather Zindars: TIME

Time is not on our side.  As life passes, it seems to speed up; the years, months, days feel as though they pass quicker and quicker and suddenly we are older, aged, children are grown and we are half-way through our life.  I used salt and pepper to reflect the moments of time that pass in a blink of an eye.  The salt represents the good moments; white, pure, clean and the pepper represents the hardships; a moment that darkens are heart just a little bit more.

Heather Zindars: FUNK

Funk displays itself in many different forms.  This structure in the Denver Art District is funky, but also considered art.   I considered it to be a perfect place to display this funky fashion, modeled by Joshua Marable, put together from the stylish consignment shop, The Buffalo Exchange.  Each piece was carefully selected to showcase a popular style from the 80's.   Joshua successfully pulls off the funky fashion of that time period that oftentimes peeks its funky head out in current styles.  Don't forget....we all have a little FUNK in us, and its alright.

Heather Zindars: Old School

The Lake of the Woods Covered Bridge was constructed in 1965 to connect the two sides of Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve in Mahomet, Illinois.  Designed by German Gurfinkel, a Civil Engineering instructor at the University of Illinois, the bridge was a replica of the Pepperel Bridge near Boston. The work took 18 months to complete and cost $55,000; the covered bridge is a relic of the past.   This particular one not built until the mid-1960's, yet is a monument to the memories of another time when people had to construct these to get over valleys and water.  A huge undertaking for those that built it, they likely never considered the valuable landmark it would serve as today.

Heather Zindars: Mirror

She blossoms right before your eyes.  Whether 3 or 13, girls love to dress-up like a princess.  Inside every woman, there is a princess.  Life may have jaded her to this belief, but if you wipe away all the pain and disappointment, there in lies a young girl whose childhood dream is to be rescued by her knight and shining armor.   A princess, above all else, is fought for.  Her tenderness and vulnerability blankets her heart awaiting her prince charming who will rise to the occasion.  This lovely girl is someone's sister, daughter, niece, granddaughter and so much more. She deserves to be loved and cherished and pursued valiantly.  God's precious gift of beauty and grace will someday touch another's heart, and she will be well worth the wait.

Old School: Heather Zindars Photography

There is nothing like a good old-fashioned covered bridge.  It's quaint and comfortable and rare in the U.S.   Classic!
