Spicy - Justin Wilhelm

In anticipation of all the spicy foods and peppers I imagined we would see today I thought that I would bring the beverages.  Beer is quite possibly my most favorite beverage to calm the heat from spicy foods (not just because I love beer), but because the carbonation really does help to 'scrub' your palette. It also does not leave the tannins that wine does which allows you to fully taste both the beverage and the food.  So the next time you sit down to that spicy red curry at your favorite thai restaurant remember to order a beer.  Better yet, skip the Heineken and order a Hitachino Nest White Ale!

Rich is something that I am not. Rich is something that I probably won't ever be. But, when I want to feel rich, I drink a martini. That's what all the fancy rich people do. Pinky out!

Valentine - Justin Wilhelm

I have always hated Valentine's Day. It seems as though the same people that have created a "holiday" for "love" are also the ones who push the "piece of meat" mentality every other day of the year. Shall we put the tongue back in his cheek?

This assignment turned out to be completely different then I had anticipated. Originally I thought that I would shoot something macro in studio. Then I saw this as I was walking around Confluence Park. The sun was going down and cast some wonderful shadows on these columns and bench and the variety of texture was fantastic. Although everything in this scene was made of similar material, the texture varied greatly; from the smooth finish on the bench to the rough feel of the columns.

Driving through the Colorado mountains in January is new to me. As I pushed my 4 cylinder Toyota Echo up Co-119 toward Nederland from Boulder I found myself having to pull over for vehicles that were better equipped to travel the snow packed roads. This also allowed me to patiently wait in the freezing cold to watch cars pass by and I was happy I did, because I could see what my surroundings looked like. As each car passed by their headlights would wash the walls with fantastic light, and that is what I was trying to express in this photo.
