Justin Stapp: Funky

I think artists sometimes get so caught up in their own medium, and own work that they often at times lose sight of the art community as a whole.  I know for myself my dear friend who does awesome make up, sure he is still learning and might have a long way to go...but who can say they have achieved artist nirvana? I realized after watching him apply makeup for a shoot we were collaborating on just why you should call someone a makeup artist. After we finished the shoot I asked him if he could do something "Funky" for me, he came up with this in about 5 minutes just playing around.  Realization: think of everyone as an artist in the work they do, sure they might not do the same kind of artwork you do, but someone's passion is most probably always art in its own right.

  1. I really like the last sentence on realization. It makes me see what drives that person and what their passion is. Or how they move forward with the talent they have. On the other hand in the beginning I think you missed a word between " that they often at times"

  2. I enjoyed your story a little more than the image. The make up says funky, but also pride..maybe it's the dots that make me think of an animal, but either way, the image is beautiful and the artist who created this look did a great, illusive job. Why wasn't the other eye done? Should that just be a statement in itself about the "don't care" attitude?

  3. Awesome, thanks for the tip there Mariah; I fixed up that sentence a bit. Andrea, thanks for that comment, and as far as the other eye, it was more just about the make up artist playing around, so I figured one eye was enough to showcase that instead of making it seem like a real job he was working on? I guess I could have definitely touched on that though. Thanks for the awesome comments!
