Funky: Brandon Sanchez

©Brandon N. Sanchez

If there's any message to my work, it is ultimately that it's OK to be different, that it's good to be different, that we should question ourselves before we pass judgment on someone who looks different, behaves different, talks different, is a different color." Johnny Depp

A few days ago before posting this shot I was walking around Civic Center Park in Denver, CO and watched as people gathered to celebrate 420. Many wearing the funky traditional tie dye shirts and rastafarian head gear. Colorado became one of 17 states in 2010 to legalize marijuana and allow citizens to celebrate inebriated; Denver Post Story.

  1. I really like the image and your description, just not necessarily together. They both say funky, but there is not a real tie created between starfish and Rastafarian gear.

  2. I agree with Moriah. I love your image, but with the text it makes no sense.

  3. The colors of the image are interesting and I like your selective focus. The image is well composed with a nice foreground, mid-ground, and background. I get where you're trying to go in your writing with funky, but I don't think the colors alone can tie the image to the writing.

  4. The image is fantastic and I like the Johnny Depp Quote. It kind of ties into the photo, but in the photo I don't see anything that is different from the rest of the scene and I'm confused on how it ties into 4/20 event in Denver. Maybe if there was more explanation to why the photo represents 4/20.
