Vision: Paige L. Hill
Staring at the wall, I can just see it now. The place I’d
rather be. Out there, way out there, in the mountain tops. Hearing the sounds
of nature all around, feeling the cool breeze on my face, smelling the fresh
air. Some place where there is no signal, totally off the grid. Just me, my
thoughts and I. Places like these allow me to fine tune my vision for whatever
project.

Colorado is well known for its vividly colored wildflowers,
lush green valleys, and beautiful mountain ranges. Whenever I visit the Maroon
Bells Wilderness Area I am overwhelmed by the experience, between the stunning peaks,
the crystal clear mountain lakes, and towering aspen trees.
Despite their beauty, the Maroon Bells are considered to be two of the most dangerous peaks in the state. They are often referred to as the “Deadly Bells.” They have claimed the lives of many an ambitious climber over the years, however, this does not stop people from reaching their summits.

The Maroon Bells
are some of the most well-known peaks in the state, and as such, are
photographed constantly. Due to this, the real challenge when photographing
them is walking away with a unique image.
When photographing the Maroon Bells, I prefer to visit them during the summer rather than in the fall because there are fewer photographers. As I watched the morning unfold I began to notice the interesting clouds moving above me creating dynamic shapes and patterns in the sky. The image above was my favorite from the morning.

Cold: CJ Evans
While driving back to Denver from Alamosa, Colorado, I came upon this beautiful site. Just north of Fairplay, Colorado on Red Hill pass to the west was this wonderful sunset. As I stopped to take a photo of the sunset. When it occurred to me how cold it was really getting and that winter would be here soon.

Window: Brian Howell

Itʼs crazy to think that even though the window in this picture is only 2x2 ft. there is this
massive 14,000 ft mountain just sitting inside it. Windowʼs are an amazing thing that
can be interpreted many different ways. As I was trying to think of a good way to shoot
for this concept I had a ton of ideas: an eye (window to the soul), catching a
moment (window of opportunity), and countless others. But this image really stuck out to
me because we go through life almost always looking through small windows, whether
its while we are driving or just sitting at work or school. When in fact if we just step
outside the window we can experience the greatest thing ever made...The WORLD! So,
I challenge you to stop looking through the window and step out and make your dreams
come true!

Light:Cameron Dabney
Perfect lighting makes a perfect photo. This photo has an amazing background and 4 cute girls, but with out the light on their faces the photo would not be nearly as strong. It is amazing what a difference the pop of a Q flash can make on a photo. This is true with most images. The image can have a ton of beautiful things in it but with out lighting the image is weak. I took this photo at my friend Meredith Xepolis's wedding this weekend. Raydene Salinas was the other photographer for the wedding, she also took some amazing photos! We went to a park in Boulder for the wedding party pictures. The sun was not shinning like I wanted it to be so I created my own sun using a Q flash. Light is what makes photography!
