RED: Raydene Salinas

When I thought of RED, lipstick immediately came to mind. I decided to create a romanticized, feminine version of 1920's Al Capone with the fedora, featuring a deep red lip. The most dramatic images of the mob boss were side lit, so I used a similar style with dramatic shadows over the majority of Sarah's face, forcing the viewer to focus on the red lips of the model.

  1. I love this image, it is very mysterious. When I look at it I wonder who she is and what she is all about.

  2. Definitely one of my favorites. I like how you chose the red as a touch of color. You immediately go to the red to start out and the composition is great. The lines are nice and help your eye flow through the photo.

  3. "Lady of Minimal Light" is what i will call you. You're choice of using a single source light seems to be one of your specialties.

  4. The thing I love about this is even though the only thing that is red in this shot is the lipstick, that is the first thing you notice. Great job with the concept!

  5. I love the mysteriousness about this photo. It really shows that the red is the most important part. the lighting you created right above her lips draws the eye right to what you are trying to portray. Great job!!!
